Instead of purchasing a Lonely Planet guidebook or video one-by-one, you can now have unlimited access to it all digitally with a Lonely Planet Membership. Plus, we've thrown in some extra perks too that only members can get.
Membership gives you unlimited access to the Guides app and Lonely Planet TV. In the app you will have over 8,000 cities at your fingertips, language guides, Magic FX, virtual tours, neighborhood and transportation information, and budget tips. On Lonely Planet TV you will be able to watch over 350 episodes of award-winning travel shows, digital shorts, and new content from the Lonely Planet video team.
Getting Started
1. Purchase your membership
To purchase a membership, visit the membership page and pick out which option works best for you. Memberships are based on time and you can always purchase another membership if you need extra. Based on the option you choose, you will gain additional savings or have access to specific perks. A recurring membership subscription can also be purchased through the Guides app (available on iOS or Android) which is billed and managed with the account you have on file with the App Store or the Play Store respectively.
2. Activate your membership
Now that you've made your selection and a purchase, you are almost there.
- If done through the website, you will be prompted to create a Lonely Planet profile account before purchase (but if you are already logged-in, you don't have to worry about this step). Then follow the steps in the check-out screen to complete your order.
- If done through the Guides app, follow the screens to complete the membership activation process. If you don't already have a Lonely Planet account, the app will walk you through creating one.
Once you have submitted all the required information and finished the activation prompts, the Lonely Planet membership system will recognize your sign-in for the time which you have purchased.
3. Download, watch and enjoy
Your active Membership now gives you unlimited access to the Guides app and Lonely Planet TV.

Additionally, if you purchased a Membership with other perks such as discounts, those will be sent via email to the email address tied to your Lonely Planet profile account. If you do not see your email, please check your spam folder.
Troubleshooting and subscription management
Updating, Changing, or Validating your Membership
To manage your membership, log into your Lonely Planet profile (in the top-right menu when you visit LonelyPlanet.com) and select "Profile." Under the "Subscription" section, hit "Manage Membership" to be taken to the subscription manager site. You will be prompted to provide the email address which you used to purchase your membership. Please note that if you used a different email address than your Lonely Planet profile account in the check-out process, your subscription will be tied to your billing email (not your email address associated with your Lonely Planet profile account).
After you have verified yourself via the email sent to you, you will be able to change your Membership subscription settings in the portal.
Guides or LPTV Restrictions
If you are being prompted to sign-in or upgrade to a Premium Membership on Guides or LPTV, please verify that you are logged-in to the correct Lonely Planet profile account which has an active Membership. To validate that your Membership is still active, see the Validating Membership section directly above this paragraph.
If your Membership is still active and you are experiencing restrictions in the Guides app or Lonely Planet TV, please log-out, clear your cache, and log back in. If the problem persists, please contact Lonely Planet customer service.
