When should I use Restore?
Use Restore if you previously paid for a Lonely Planet membership or Trip Pass through Apple or Google but your membership is not showing in the app.
Typical cases:
- You reinstalled the app or got a new phone.
- You paid, but your account still shows only free access.
- You signed into a different Lonely Planet account on the same device.
- You deleted your Lonely Planet account, created a new one, and want to recover a previous paid purchase.
Tap Restore on the membership purchase screen or in Manage Membership, and make sure you’re using the same Apple ID or Google account you originally used to make your purchase.
Restore will not:
- Recover a deleted Lonely Planet profile or your past trips.
- Bring back complimentary Founding Member access.
- Cancel or refund a purchase.
- Find a purchase made with a different Apple ID or Google account.
How do I delete my Lonely Planet account?
Go to Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account.
You can delete your account even if you have an active membership. Before you confirm, we’ll explain what happens to your membership and billing.
If you have a membership that is still renewing, we’ll ask you to cancel through Apple or Google first, but you can still delete your Lonely Planet account immediately.
If I Delete My Account, Does My Membership Cancel?
No. Deleting your Lonely Planet account does not cancel billing through Apple or Google.
If your Lonely Planet membership is still renewing, Apple or Google may continue charging you until you cancel your subscription through your Apple account or Google Play subscription.
If you have a Lonely Planet membership that is already canceled or an active Trip Pass, deleting your account removes access from that Lonely Planet account. You can create a new account and use Restore to recover any remaining paid access.
Complimentary Founding Member access ends when the account is deleted, and cannot be restored. Deleting your account does not automatically result in a refund.
Can I get my Lonely Planet account back after I delete it?
No. Once your Lonely Planet account is deleted, the account, profile and trips cannot be restored.
If you previously purchased a Lonely Planet membership or Trip Pass through Apple or Google, you can create a new Lonely Planet account and use Restore to recover any remaining paid access.
Complimentary Founding Member access cannot be restored.
